The other day I became glaringly aware that 19 billion dollars lies unclaimed in "lost" superannuation. This is folks simply not claiming their super or not joining or merging their super accounts when they move employers, and just letting to lie dormant.
http://www.news.com.au/money/superannuation/massive-19-billion-in-unclaimed-superannuation/story-e6frfmdi-1226083838944
I came back and told my wife that, and said "how dumb is that, particularly in times like this?" Her rejoinder " Well we've all been guilty havent we? (now you know what that means!)", So I said "what do you mean?" Her reply : " Well there's the landlords that wouldnt pay back back deposits, that we never fought, theres the losses suffered because of negligence of third parties - cars, other episodes/accidents, that weve let go, theres the investments matured that havent been harvested, do you want me to relate some more? Its the same thing, just the quantum of money thats different!" Humbled I realised, yes, thats spot on, we keep talking and finding others losses but are blind to our own. Why keep talking of difficult times when we ourselves by our negligence and lack of timely action, create these conditions?" Stupidity ? idiocy ? Or Status Quo running roost ? You decide.

Krishna RKrishna R, Sydneynoreply@blogger.com
